ATOMEXPO 2016 Plenary Forum Participants to Discuss International Nuclear Power Industry's Prospects

The VIII International Forum ATOMEXPO 2016 takes place from May 30 to June 1 at Gostiny Dvor, Moscow. The State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom is the organizer of the event, and the operator is Atomexpo LLC.

One of the key events of the forum's second day (May 31) will be a plenary session titled "The future of nuclear energy. New players," dedicated to issues relating to the development of the international nuclear power industry, as well as cooperation with countries that are planning to develop nuclear energy and the main aspects of Rosatom's integrated offer. New players are countries with no experience in the use of nuclear technologies, whose entrance into the ranks of nuclear power countries may be a catalyst for their high-tech development and will affect the future of nuclear power generation. The moderator of this session will be the World Nuclear Association's Director General, Agneta Rising.

In a welcoming address to forum participants, Agneta Rising noted: "I am certain that AtomExpo will provide an excellent opportunity to identify and focus on solution-oriented responses and seek to unite the whole nuclear community – from research, government, regulation, design, operation, decommissioning and waste management – to play their respective roles towards a common goal to ensure that nuclear energy can contribute to a reliable, affordable and clean electricity generation mix."

A welcoming speech to ATOMEXPO 2016 participants by the General Director of Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko, is also planned for the plenary session. Participants in the discussion are to include: Rosatom's First Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business, Kirill Komarov; IAEA Deputy Director General Mikhail Chudakov; Bolivian Deputy Minister for Electricity and Alternative Energy Joaquin Rodriguez Gutierrez; the Director General of the Atomic Energy Commission of Nigeria, Franklin Osaysay; the Director General of the Jordan Nuclear Power Company, Ahmad Hiyasat; Ghana's Deputy Minister of Power, John Abdulai Jinapor; and the Deputy Director General of Cambodia's Ministry of Environment, Tin Ponlok.

In addition, the business agenda of the ATOMEXPO 2016 forum includes more than 10 discussion platforms.

The general informational partner of the forum is the news agency RIA Novosti – the flagship brand in the portfolio of MIA Rossiya Segodnya. The international specialized exhibition Astana EXPO-2017 is a partner of the event.
